Prague is situated within Central Bohemia and is close to a number of neighbouring towns and cities, including Plzen (Pilsen), which lies in western Bohemia and is the fourth-biggest city in the Czech Republic. Within Prague itself, local drivers tend to have good road manners, although many do seem to ignore the local speed limits. Prague is not usually difficult to drive around, apart from the expected heavy traffic in the heart of the city and a number of confusing one-way streets. Always keep a look out for the city's large red trams, which dominate the roads and tend to take priority.
Parking spaces in central Prague can be difficult to find and many people choose to park outside of this area and rely on public transport to travel around the city centre. However, a number of parking lots are available and within central Prague you will find three main parking zones. The orange zone is for short-term parking only, up to two hours, from 08:00 to 18:00. The blue parking zone is strictly reserved for local businesses and residents, while the green zone allows parking for up to six hours, also between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00.
